The Kids
The operation of Sport Horse Training Inc. is a full time cooperative effort for the Strang family. The kids are an integral part the business, taking part in farm activities, yet Barb and Roddy encourage them to pursue other activities as well.

Raleigh is your typical horse girl, who started riding as soon as she could walk. She began lessons, participated in pony camp and competing in some local hunter shows under the guidance of Maria Jones on her favorite pony Raisin, who started tons of local kids riding.
At the age of 7 Raleigh began to hunt with Andrew's Bridge Foxhounds, thanks to the generosity of Adrienne Iorio who loaned the Strang's her fabulous pony Squishy! Raleigh quickly discovered her love for working and showing hounds and puppies in the Junior Handler Classes. She received lots of support and help from Becky and Betsy Harris, as well as Adam Townsend. Raleigh also enjoys participating in the NAJFHC's each year, placed 7th one year on Squishy and 2nd on her now favorite pony Snowball.
Raleigh is very helpful in barn and around the farm grooming, mucking and mowing. In addition to horse related activities, Raleigh enjoys playing Lacrosse for the Solanco Lacrosse and Lanco Elite club teams on attack and in goal.

Payton rode briefly as a toddler but was not bitten by the "horse bug". He helps out around the farm mowing, weed wacking, mucking and doing other odd jobs. Growing up on a farm he's acquired many skills, so he's quite busy during the summer working for other local horse people, and he works for the local vintner at Octorara Cellars. In addition, he's very excited about his new part-time position at Wawa.
Payton also plays Lacrosse for the Solanco Lacrosse club on attack and he's looking forward to going to college for Engineering or Architecture in the next couple of years. |
